Is This Kobe Steak Worth $450?

This is the best Kobe steak ever imported to the United States. It costs $450 for 13 ounces and if it was sold in a restaurant it would cost $900. That’s about $90 a bite. That’s because It’s an A5 Kobe steak with a BMS of 12. In the Japanese beef rating system BMS stands for Beef Marble Score. The BMS scale ranges from 3 to 12, with 3 being a normal amount marbling, think what in the butcher shop at your high-end grocery store. The highest rating is 12. Steaks that reach that level are almost white with fat. Very, very few cuts of meat reach a BMS of 12. Over the last 10 years, just five BMS 12 beef loin sets have been imported into the U.S.

  • I think we can all agree that marbling in beef is good but oh my goodness it doesn’t even look like a steak. It looks like a chunk of fat. Don’t get me wrong, I am a hypocrite I would absolutely try it.

  • Sorry your a sap! If it was $130 a bite, you would say it's worth it. $160 a bite, you would say it's worth it. What BS! had 2 friends try it and they it wasn't worth it. Waste on money they said. It melted in their mouth, but so does butter. Give me a nice hearty steak where I don't mind chewing with very good flavor at $20/pound over this overpriced over-rated stuff.

  • Short answer? No. My caucasion mom was raised in Tachekawa, Japan, right after Hiroshima and Nagasaki. She will be 82 in a few weeks. The cost per pound is prohibitive to most people on the Planet. $90 per bite, for a family of 5 kids, 2 parents = 7 mouths to feed. $450 ÷ 7 =... right, like that's going to happen, or NOT. No lol. Might I remind you that there is a Global Pandemic, not yet hitting its C19 stride. In February, a Novel Virus, called COVID-19. A few weeks later? Had medically mutated to over 30 different mutations. A few weeks later? Medically mutated to over 300 different bio-strains. That was this past May, 2020. Millions lost their jobs, apartments, homes (mortgages), etd, and you want the common people to pay $450 per pound for something shipped out of Kobe, Japan. Really?? Google it, people.

    • @DGLS_Official you’re just a blue state hating bigot. The reason why nyc area has it so bad is because there’s more millions of people condensed together. Compared to millions of people versus rural Republican states. Of course, there’s going to be more cases and deaths. But things are changing and Republican states are almost doing worse, 20-50% infection rate. NYC infection rate is only 1%-3% and we have probably 50 million more people in the NYC area (NJ and CT combined) then your tiny rural red states

      RubyRuby2 oy oldin
    • @DGLS_Official so what’s your point? Don’t wear a mask? Don’t put restrictions and let people die? You’re probably those people who think your rights are more important. Your rights don’t matter when other people’s right to be alive is more of a priority. Think about your grandma, if you have anyone you care about

      RubyRuby2 oy oldin
    • @Ruby The facts are completely contrary to what you’re trying to convince me of. The states with the most restrictions have the highest death rates. Just like with gun violence, the cities with the strictest gun laws have the highest crime rates.

      DGLS_OfficialDGLS_Official2 oy oldin
    • @DGLS_Official look at it this way. Many democratic states cases and deaths are decreasing or plateauing. Republican states are soaring.

      RubyRuby2 oy oldin
    • @DGLS_Official yeah but at least we are taking actions. While republicans refuse to do mask mandates and they are dealing with uncontrollable cases and deaths. It’s reckless
